Our Senior Winter Football Program offers both competitive and social pathways for men and women to stay active, connected, and playing the game they love.
For men, we field teams across Opens (Premier League, Super League, All Age) and Seniors (Over 35, Over 45, Over 55) competitions, while also offering a popular 9-a-side Over 50s social competition for players who want to enjoy the game in a more relaxed environment.
For women, we provide opportunities at both Opens (Premier League, All Age) and Seniors (Over 30, Over 40) levels, with the added option of a 9-a-side Over 40s social competition that blends football and fun with community spirit.
- Premier League & Super League, All Age, O30/35, O40/45, O55, and social 9-a-side.
- League: compete in the North West Sydney Football (NWSF) Association's league competition, and all Football NSW (FNSW) Cups.

Game Format & Competition Structure
Senior football at Gladesville Sharks FC is open to men and women aged 17 and over who are keen to play in a structured, competitive, and social environment. Our teams cater to a wide range of abilities — from experienced players looking to compete in higher divisions, to newcomers and returning players seeking a fun, social team.
Eligibility
- Opens (Premier League, Super League, All Age) – ages 16 and above.
- Overs (O30 and O40 females, and O35, O45, O55 males) – must have turned minimum age by January 1st of competition year*
- Over 35 & Over 45 Men: Must meet minimum age on 31 December of the competition year.
- Masters: Social 9-a-side O40 female and O50 male – must have turned minimum age by January 1st of competition year*
Team Formation & Grading
- Players can join as individuals or with a pre-formed team.
- Returning teams generally retain their previous squad where possible.
- New players are placed in teams according to preferred competition level, position, and availability.
- Teams are entered into appropriate divisions based on skill level, past performance, and NWSF grading.
Season Snapshot
- Competition: NWSF Winter Season
- Preseason: training & friendlies throughout March
- Regular season: league games throughout April, May, June, July and into August
- Post-season: semi finals and grand finals held at the end of August
- Training: weekly, on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday nights at Morrison Bay Park.
- Match days: typically Saturday afternoons for males, with occasional game on Sunday afternoons; always Sunday matches for females.

Training
Senior football at Gladesville Sharks FC strikes a balance between training, competitive matches, and community spirit. While the level of commitment varies depending on the competition and division, most senior teams train once per week in the evenings at Morrison Bay Park or nearby fields, with some higher-division squads choosing to train twice. Coaches and managers work closely with their groups to set training times that suit the team’s needs.
Game Day
Game days for Gladesville Sharks seniors are part of the NWSF Winter Competition, with all fixtures played under the governance of NWSF, Football NSW (FNSW), Football Australia (FA), and FIFA rules and codes of conduct.
Our men’s teams compete across Opens (Premier League, Super League, All Age) and Seniors (Over 35, Over 45, Over 55) divisions, as well as a popular 9-a-side Over 50s social competition. For women, we field sides in Opens (Premier League, All Age) and Seniors (Over 30, Over 40), alongside a 9-a-side Over 40s social competition. Whether it’s the intensity of top-tier football or the camaraderie of a social kick, there’s a Sharks team for every player.

What age group should my child play in?
Players are placed into age groups based on their age as of 31 December of the current season year. For example, if your child turns 13 in 2025, they’ll play in the U13s.
When does the season start and finish?
How often do teams train and play?
Do I need to buy a uniform?
No. Every new registered junior player receives a jersey, shorts, socks, Players will need to supply football boots and a water bottle. Jerseys are to be returned at the conclusion of the season.
Can my child play with their friends?
We always try to accommodate friendship requests made during registration, though this may depend on team numbers and grading considerations.
What are the rules for substitutions and playing time?
Our club promotes fair play and inclusion. While playing time may vary in competitive divisions, we encourage coaches to give all players meaningful time on the field, especially in non-graded teams.
Are coaches professionally qualified?
Our junior teams are led by volunteer coaches, many of whom are parents. We support them through training resources and access to our Coach the Coach program, run by experienced professionals.
What happens if we miss a game?
Let your team manager know as early as possible. We understand life happens, and your team will adjust their lineup accordingly.
Do teams play during school holidays?
Generally, matches are not scheduled during the middle weekend of school holidays, but this can vary depending on the draw. We’ll keep you informed via Dribl and team WhatsApp groups.
When does the season start?
Registrations open in January, team placements happen in February, and training begins in March. The season usually kicks off in early April and runs through to August.
How do I stay informed?
All families are added to a team WhatsApp group, managed by your coach or manager. This is the best place for updates on training, game times, and club news.
